Project: INFOS-COMMUNE: Towards open and accessible local authorities

In a context where access to information at local level remains limited, this project aims to strengthen transparency and citizen participation within local authorities in the Oriental region. As part of the Open Local Government program, it aims to bridge the gap between local government and citizens, facilitating access to crucial information on local decisions, budgets and initiatives, and encouraging greater involvement of residents. In this way, the project seeks to empower local players by fostering a climate of trust and dialogue with the population.

General objective:

Establish a culture of transparent governance within local authorities in the Oriental region by building the capacity of young people and the general public to exercise their right of access to information, and of institutions to respond to their requests.

To achieve this objective, the project includes concrete actions to train local civil servants in the legal and practical aspects of access to information, giving them the tools they need to respond effectively to citizens’ requests. It also includes awareness-raising campaigns aimed at young people and the general public, to enable them to fully exercise their right of access to information. By establishing a culture of transparency, this project lays the foundations for more open, participative and accessible local governance, contributing to the collective well-being and sustainable development of the region.
