On February 21 and 22, 2025, the city of Oujda was the scene of the second National Conference on the Right of Access to Information, a major event organized by the Association Pionniers du Changement pour le Développement et la Culture and the Association SimSim – Participation Citoyenne, with financial support from the European Union in Morocco.

This conference provided a platform for exchange and reflection on the state of progress of access to information in Morocco, particularly in the context of the second year of implementation of the project. “Access to information as a lever for advocacy, transparency and good governance”.. The event brought together various institutional players, civil society representatives and experts committed to promoting transparency and good governance.

Discussions over the two days focused on the challenges involved in implementing the law on access to information, and on successful experiences that could serve as models for improving policies and mechanisms in this area. The discussions also explored ways of strengthening citizens’ ownership of this right, and encouraging its use as a tool for participation and advocacy.

The organization of this second edition is part of a drive to strengthen the effectiveness of the right of access to information at local level. It aligns itself with the efforts of partner associations to raise awareness and mobilize stakeholders around the issues of transparency and openness of institutions.
